June 22, 2004 - 9:48 a.m. FLY GALLERY "Fly is a dark, magical-realistic tale about survival, justice, redemption, poultry and a surreal turn-of-the-century farm lost somewhere on the prairie. Wicked in scope, Fly embraces myth, side-show, puppetry, 16mm film and an expressionistic landscape as it explores the cataclysmic event that sent this small town into a rotting purgatory, and the lives of the young townspeople who are left to face the horrific truth of their curses cause. Fly was first work-shopped as wreckd, produced by companytheatrecrisis at the University of Toronto Drama Festival, at Hart House Theatre on January 31st, 2004. Director Natasha Mytnowych received the Robert Gill Award for Outstanding Direction from Adjudicator Ann-Marie Kerr. Fly continued its development though the University College Drama Programs Playwriting Course, taught by Djanet Sears, who has since become Flys Associate Dramaturge. Fly has also received ongoing dramaturgical support from Factory Theatres Playwright-in-Residence Claudia Dey.
